As part of the Celtic Connections festival, the Orchestral Qawwali Project graced the stage at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall, delivering an unforgettable evening of music. The audience was immersed in a captivating experience that fused traditional qawwali with Western influences.

Local band CLR Theory captivated the listening crowd during intimate performances at the Deep End over the weekend, with two consecutive shows on the Saturday and Sunday evening.

Radio Buena Vida, a Govanhill-based online radio station, launched in 2020. Now a radio cafe on Victoria Road, it features diverse community content. Glasgow is welcoming Decolonise Fest (DF) this Saturday 11 November at Mono for the first time, with a stellar lineup of three Glasgow-based performers: Kapil Seshasayee, R.AGGS and Trishaaa. 

Earlier this year, local music charity Big Noise travelled to South India to participate in a concert that celebrated the shared heritage of Scotland and India. One of the young musicians shares her experiences of the trip.

Last week the Greater Govanhill show, kicked off Buenafest, by bringing listeners all the latest from the new issue of our magazine, packed with stories about local artists, culture and subcultures.

This contemporary solo opera “sings itself into being” with playful audio descriptions of events onstage and aromatic scents pumped into the theatre to enhance the experience. Skunk Without K takes the audience on a journey from nature’s creation to its imagined collapse through a vivid sensory experience.

The international biennial festival, Take Me Somewhere, returns to Glasgow for the first time since 2019. Performances will take place across the city with many site-specific installations, including at Tramway, from 13 to 28 October 2023. 

In our regular feature ‘My Life Before Govanhill’ we find out from the diverse community of Govanhill what they got up to before settling around Victoria Road. In this edition, we meet Răzvan Kim.

In the midst of Winter last year, Greater Govanhill and The Ferret opened the doors to The Community Newsroom. To celebrate the occasion with the local community they were joined by Annette Street Drummers, a group of talented young kids who put on an energised performance to mark the occasion.

Govanhill Voices sing songs in community languages including Yoruba, German, Dutch and Romani. They’re an inclusive group, where everyone is welcome to join and find joy in communal singing.
