Queer Ecology

Lesbian lizards, bisexual red deer, sexually fluid primroses. Wildlife programmes and school biology classes never mention these natural aspects of life on Earth. And even though studies like ecology and botany are steeped in assumptions that the whole point of life is to make little baby animals and plants, the truth is that plants, animals and the other beautiful species we share our planet with, are profoundly queer. Our beautiful queer community, human and non-human, has so much to celebrate.

In this workshop, ecologist and author, Otter Lieffe and botanist and illustrator, Anja Van Geert will present their new zine, Queer Animals, their upcoming work on Queer Plants and present some of the beautiful concepts behind Queer Ecology.

This event will be held online. Access links will be sent to attendees in advance of the event. For any technical problems, please email glasgowzinelibrary@gmail.com

In order to make their events more accessible to those on a low income, Glasgow Zine Library uses a sliding scale ticket price of £0-£12 for our events. You can choose what you pay based on your economic circumstances. Thier ticket sales go towards running our spaces and supporting DIY makers. If you have a free ticket and can no longer use it, please contact the Glasgow Zine Library to let them know here: glasgowzinelibrary@gmail.com

Glasgow Zine Library is an archive and library based in the Southside of Glasgow. It acts as a growing archive of self-published works, with an inviting and accessible area of reading in the space, as well as running a year-long programme of events to celebrate the ethos of Do It Yourself (DIY) culture.
