On Wednesday 23rd October, in celebration of this spooky season, Pollokshaws Burgh Hall is showcasing German horror classic; The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920). To accompany the film screening, internationally acclaimed organist Aaron Hawthorne will be performing a live, fully improvised soundtrack on Scotland’s only Wurlitzer organ.

The Cabinet of Dr Caligari is a German silent horror film directed by Robert Wiene and released in 1920. The film is an iconic example in the genre of German expressionism and gained recognition for its creative set designs, gothic photography and expressionist imagery that characterised the genre and artistic movement at the time.

Starting at 7:30pm and finishing at 10:00pm, the eerie setting of the Victorian building provides the perfect atmosphere to immerse yourself in a night of classic horror with the haunting sounds of the Wurlitzer organ bringing to life Dr. Caligari’s suspenseful tale.

This is a ticketed event presented by the Scottish Cinema Organ Trust. General admission tickets are £13.70 (including booking fee) and Concession admission prices are £11.55 (including fee).
