Join Govanhill Baths for a Week of Events Celebrating International Women's Day

This year, International Women’s Day falls on Tuesday 8th March. Govanhill Baths have announced a week of events which culminate in the Women’s Equality March on Saturday 12th. The Trust would love all variety of community groups to join them for the march.

The March will assemble at Govanhill Park at 12pm and then head to Queen’s Park where there will be speeches by women's groups and activists taking action for gender equality.

There will be soups and coffees on arrival for everyone in attendance at Queen’s Park following the procession.

This will be a chance for us to take to the streets and to show unity whilst celebrating women's achievements in the struggle for representation and justice.

Ahead of the March there will be banner- making sessions at the Deep End on 21 Nithsdale Street, G41 2PZ. These will be held on the 8 th of March (10-12.00pm) and we will be having a drop-in session all day on the 11 th of March too. We will be making colourful and loud signs which protest gender discrimination and inequality.

The March will take place as part of a programme of activities being run across Govanhill and in the Gorbals in collaboration with Crossroads around women’s rights and activism. The aim of the programme is to provide opportunities for women and allies to take a stance: to call out and take action against inequality whenever and wherever they see it.
