Activity Groups for Visually Impaired Launched in Glasgow Area

For many people living with a vision impairment going out can be difficult. There is lots of planning which needs to be done for every trip and the fear of the unexpected can be quite overwhelming.

This is why our new Activity Groups Service is so important, we want to help anyone affected by sight loss to get out into their local community and take part in activities, make new friendships and most importantly enjoy themselves.

We plan to put on lots of different activities in the west in the coming months. We plan to ask the users of the service what activities they actually want, and are hoping to put on a wide variety of groups this year including social groups, sporting and fitness, book groups, arts and crafts, amongst others. We see the activity groups as a great way of engaging with more people in the community in a positive and rewarding manner.

Our newest groups will take place at

  • Pollokshaws Library Monday 10th July 12-2pm

  • Govanhill Library Tuesday 11th July 1pm-3pm

  • Cardonald Library Thursday 13th  July 1pm-3pm

This is a chance to come along to meet new people and have a good chat about what activities you would like to do. Anyone affected by VI is welcome, including carers and family.

For more information on the Activity Groups please call our helpline on 0800 024 8973.
