Glasgow Artists’ Moving Image Studios (GAMIS) are excited to invite you to participate in the pilot of an ambitious oral history project, centred on Govanhill Picture House:

Do you live or work in the area around Govanhill Picture House? Or have you since moved away? We are wanting to gather stories, impressions and information about the old cinema building and its surrounding area, from people who know it, to create an audio broadcast for Doors Open Days Festival in September.

We are working with sound artist and designer Heather Andrews, who will combine recorded interviews and conversation with field recordings of the space, to create a unique sound work. We hope to draw attention to details that matter to people who live and work nearby, what the building has meant over the years, how it has changed, and hopes for the future of this little pocket of Govanhill.

If you, or someone you know, have a story to tell, a feeling or just thoughts about the area, you can come and be recorded by Heather on:
Thursday 30th July (10am - 4pm) at
Glasgow Zine Library, 636 Cathcart Road.

To keep everybody safe, and to adhere to social distancing guidelines, we are asking that you book one of the 30 minute slots via the Eventbrite page below

Booking via Eventbrite

Please feel free to contact us at hello@glasgowamis.org if you have any questions!
