REBEL DYKES Zine Making Workshop

  • Glasgow Zine Library Cathcart Road Glasgow, Scotland United Kingdom (map)

A hot, heady, punky, sexy mash-up of animation, previously unseen rare archive footage and new interviews, REBEL DYKES tells the story of a radical 80s scene: squatters, BDSM nightclubs, anti-Thatcher rallies, protests demanding action around AIDS and the fierce ties of chosen families.

In this zine-making workshop, we will dig into the REBEL DYKES archive, watch bits of the film and share our own stories. We’ll make zines using copies of Rebel Dyke posters, pictures and other materials, adding in the stories we’ve told and heard, to make our own mini archives to take away.

All participants will receive a pack of archival materials through the post that you can use for collaging and creating your zine during the workshop. You will need to provide scissors, glue/tape, a pen or pencil. All welcome regardless of artistic ability. There will be no pressure to speak or share but there will be opportunities to do so if you like. This workshop will have BSL and captioning.

This workshop is happening in collaboration with Birds Eye View's Reclaim The Frame project, Screen Scotland & Bohemia Media.
