Open Air Screening of Jean Cocteau's 1946 classic!

GAMIS are thrilled to announce our participation in Govanhill International Festival this year. We still don’t have a cinema (and we still shouldn’t gather inside) so we are holding an open-air screening at the site of the former Hampden Picture House on Westmoreland Street (opposite the Bell Jar).

La Belle et la Bête, is a landmark feat of cinematic fantasy in which master filmmaker Jean Cocteau conjures spectacular visions of enchantment, desire and death.

Henri Alekan’s subtle black and white cinematography combines with Christian Berard’s masterly costumes and set designs to create a magical piece of cinema, a children’s fairytale refashioned into a stylised and highly sophisticated dream.

Language: French with English Subtitles

This is a free, unticketed event. However in order to keep everyone safe and comply with track and trace guidelines, we are asking that you register your contact details in advance via Eventbrite. Stewards will also be on hand on the night to take contact details of those who haven’t already registered, but if you can do it in advance it will save time and queues for everyone else!

Thank you for your understanding, and for working with us to make this a fun and relaxing event for everyone.
