Join The Point for the screening of ‘No Radio Silence’, a short film produced and directed by Unity Sisters, facilitated by filmmaker Bircan Birol. Unity Sisters are a peer-led support group for women in the asylum system.
The film discusses the integration of refugees and asylum seekers, particularly women, in Glasgow. There is a general belief that refugees should be grateful and happy to be here in Scotland. This film challenges those ideas and sheds light on the many difficult and exhausting barriers we face here every day.
The voices in the film call for change and propose solutions from individuals, communities, policy makers and ultimately the whole current system that does not allow for the full integration of refugees and asylum seekers in our society.
