We’re Glasgow Zine Library, a community art space in Govanhill. We run a programme of fun, accessible, interesting events for our local community all year round. Every year, we also run Glasgow Zine Fest, an annual festival that celebrates self-publishing and the Do It Yourself ethos, and welcomes over 2000 attendees.

For 2021, we want to make our festival even better, and focus on creating more events for young people by young people, and we want YOU to be involved!

The Young Producers Programme is a free, multi-week, mentored course for people aged 14-18. It aims to create opportunities for young people in Govanhill in the field of community arts organising.

You’ll be part of a team tasked creating events for Glasgow Zine Fest 2021. With experts guiding you week-to-week, you’ll do everything from come up with the idea for an event, to designing and marketing it, to eventually running it! You’ll collaborate with local organisations, and get a sense of what it’s like to work in the arts and to run a festival!

This programme would be suitable for anyone who wants to see their ideas come to life as a public event, or for anyone thinking about getting into a career in community arts.

The programme will encourage teamwork, creativity and problem solving as well as giving hands on experience in areas like marketing, graphic design and event management.

The programme will start in January 2021 (with an introductory session in December), and will run weekly until the end of April.

The sessions will be 90 minutes long, and take place online every Thursday afternoon from 4:30pm-6:00pm.

We have access measures in place for people who have trouble attending online events. Please ask us for more details.

There is no fee either to apply or to be a Young Producer.

Deadline to apply is the 8th of December.

For more information, application forms, and for information sheets for teachers/parents, please see:

If people do not wish to apply online, we have stamped postcards we can provide with the application form on. These will be available at select locations around Govanhill.
