Greater Govanhill CIC is a free community magazine – and website – covering Govanhill and the surrounding areas in the Southside of Glasgow. The magazine takes a positive, solutions-focused look at local issues, and provides a platform to typically under-represented voices.
This is through the UK Government Kickstart Scheme, which means applicants must be on Universal Credit, aged 16-24, currently unemployed and based in the UK. To see if you are eligible to apply, please contact your Job Centre work coach, and provide them with the reference postcode: G42 8DN.
It is for 25 hours per week, for six months. Paid at the Living Wage.

Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for a Communications and Admin Assistant to support the Editor-in-Chief in a wide variety of communications, admin and editorial tasks.
These include, but are not limited to:
Uploading articles to the website
Creating and sharing posts on social media
Writing content for the website
Fact-checking and researching articles as required
Proofreading
Assisting in co-ordinating volunteers involved in magazine production
Liaising with volunteers
Liaising with potential advertisers
Researching grant funding opportunities
Assisting with magazine distribution coordination
Assisting with posting out shop orders
This role would suit someone who is interested in journalism, media, magazine publishing and communications.
Experience, skills and qualifications required
Must be proficient with a computer and commonly used programmes.
Must be experienced with social media.
Must live in – or near – Govanhill, or have some connection with the area.
Must be interested in building community and the third sector.
Some experience of/interest in journalism/media/communications preferred.
