Queen’s Park Arena summer programme announced

 

Tickets are going on sale for the free summer programme at the Queen’s Park Arena which will include film screenings, creative workshops, fitness activities, events for the wee ones and a licensed bar.

The summer programme of events at the Queens Park Arena has been released by Inhouse Event Solutions CIC. The schedule includes a diverse range of free events for all ages running from 28 June to 21 July.

Last year, the event attracted over 35,000 visitors, and has become a regular fixture in the Southside entertainment calendar. This year, the program is expanding with new additions to the lineup.

Kicking off on 28 June, The Glasgow Choir Festival will showcase local talent, followed by the return of the Glasgow Annual Hip Hop Jam on June 29, featuring a multi-generational celebration of hip hop culture, including live DJ and MC performances, street dance, live art competitions and workshops.

Film lovers can enjoy open-air cinema screenings from July 1 to July 19 in the Cults and Classics programme, which will include 31 screenings available to book, including 18 family-friendly films and 13 movies suitable for over 18s. There will also be short film screenings curated by the Glasgow Short Film Festival.

There will also be live screenings of UEFA Euro 2024 and Wimbledon finals. For those more interested in taking part, there will be The Glasgow Games Family Fitness Megathon offering back-to-back fitness classes, including warm ups, aerobics, HIIT and Socafit, followed by The Glasgow Games -  Battle of the Gyms which will see a showdown between local gym instructors from Pure Gym, Anytime Fitness and Future Fitness.

The Greenhouse Tent will host art creative art workshops and activities for all ages, including DJ/MC lessons and graffiti workshops, as well as Songwriting, Steelpan and DJ skills workshops provided by SoundLab, while the Big Fun section offers activities for preschoolers.

For families seeking entertainment for preschoolers, the Big Fun section of the programme will include a range of free early years activities, including toddler dance classes, book readings and soft play sessions.

Drinks, coffee and food such as woodfired pizza, nachos, popcorn, soft serve ice cream, and fresh fruit and allergy-free snacks for the wee ones will be available at the Bando Bar which will be open from 12 noon – 11pm every day.
