About
Govanhill is one of the most diverse and interesting places to live in Scotland. It has a wealth of community projects, independent retailers and a vibrant atmosphere.
We know that a multitude of cultures, languages and social groups co-exists in Govanhill, often happily, but we are also aware that fear, othering and isolation are problems, too.
This is why we created a FREE magazine, both in print and online, to celebrate the differences that make Govanhill so special, shining a light on the people and projects at work in the area, and bringing them together. The publication, run from a community interest company, is not-for-profit. We also launched an accompany radio show and podcast.

Workshops, training and events will also enable the residents of Govanhill to feed into the magazine, empowering people to tell their own stories in their own words.
Who we are
Our Values
Greater Govanhill is a not-for-profit community magazine, registered as a community interest company. As such it will be guided by a set of values:
We take a solutions-focused approach when covering any topic. We don’t shy away from serious issues, but look to see how others may have found answers to big questions.
We provide a platform for marginalised voices to tell their stories in their own words.
We don’t take an exploitative approach to personal stories.
We balance negative perceptions of the area through promotion of positive news stories.
We avoid sensationalism in favour of stories that have real depth.
How you can help
If you’re interested in volunteering for the magazine and have skills in any of the below (or something we haven’t thought of yet), we’d love to hear from you.
writing, editing, proofreading, photography, graphic design, illustration, animation, videography, community engagement, advertising, translation, marketing, accessibility sales, distribution, printing, community consultation, events, social media, websites, training, admin, coding, accounting, fundraising, workshop facilitation, promotions… the list goes on
